abs piping vs. pvc

is it necessary to place a gravel underlay, under abs piping? vs., i understand it is, with pvc, as pvc is flexible, and abs is rigid…will not bend, thus does not need the support.

Regardless of the type of piping materials a clean solid backfill and base are required.

Plastic more so then the better ferrous materials as plastic has very weak tensile strenth and is subject to crushing.
