Problem of coarse! Had septic tank pumped twice in last 2 months. Just wondering how you determine if the ground water is at the same level as the drain field. Dig sample holes around field? I know it is very close! Getting to be an expensive venture.Any solutions if it is that close? Any alternative remedies besides a raised bed? HELP!

Bass Guy, if you suspect that the ground water table is very close to the drain field, and if your problem is that the sewage is backing up into the house, then installing an alternative treatment system is probably the least obtrusive, and less costly solution to your problem.

I recommend that you investigate a peat based filter system. Check out this website for a description of the technology.
