After my sump pump shuts off, there is a loud vibration from the pipe for about 10 seconds. The pump is new and I confirmed it is shut down when the vibration occurs. It is a 3/4 HP pump that directs the water up about 7 feet and then straight out about 12 feet. Someone told me it is “pipe burp”. Any suggestions on a cure?
The only thing I can think of is that the check valve, if there is one, is leaking back to the pit for about 10 seconds. The water flowing back could be making the noise. Does the water level in the pit change(get higher) as the noise happens? are there any ripples inthe water as the noiswe happens? [email protected]
