Laundry tub drainage

I want to put a laundry tub in a basement next to the washer. The washer pumps up to a traped pipe which enters the main drainage stack. I can either get a sump in a box and have it drain up to the same trapped area the washer drains to, or possibly go to the clean out about 20′ away on the floor and tee off the end with a line and do a trap under the tub. Will either work and which is preferred? Do I have to vent the drain if it joins into the main stack or the cleanout [is the trap at the sink enough to keep sewer gas out?].

You are always better off using a trapped AND VENTED line forget the clean out

If your wanting a laundry tray in connection with the washing machine, why not discharge the washing machine into the laundry tray and have a drain pump system under the laundry tray discharge into your main line. This makes for a cleaner installation and with the trap of the laudry tray, will prevent sewer gases. Also the drain pump discharge line should have a check valve to prevent a backup situation which most likely is not in your current application for your washer. If your code will allow, you can put your p-trap directly into the tank, making a convenient fit under the laundry tray.
