We have had a heavy rainfall and although my sump pump sounds as though it is working water is flowing up the hole and flooding my basement. This is the first time this has happened since I moved in 2+ years ago. Is the pump failing or could there be a blockage? Where do I start? Besides with a mop that is. Please help!!!

Inspect your check valve. It’s possible that the water feeding out is coming back in. Typically when the pump finishes pumping water to a certain level in the sump, the check valve closes and prevents back wash.
