        Good day gentleman.
I am in the midst of installing a gas water heater and
have a question regarding the gas feed. I recently
        installed a Carrier msa58(100-16) 100,000 btu
furnace. From the meter runs 15′ 1 1/4″ black pipe
to a 6′ 5/8″ copper drop. Can I tee into the furnace
drop just above the sediment tube to feed the hot
waterheater? Will the 5/8″ drop be enough to support
a 100,000btu furnace and 40,000 btu water heater
or do I have to tap into the black? I live in southern
Ontario, Canada and have .5 psi line pressure.
        All help is greatly appreciated.

Lighteningrodguy – now that is a very appropriate nickname you have there!!!!!!!!!
From your question I can assume that you are neither a qualified Plumber or Gasfitter and as such I cannot as a Professional knowingly give you information on “how to” for a gas installation.
For me to offer this information would be less than professional as anyone that plays with gas appliances or installations that does not know the basic simple rules such as pipe sizing and pipe pressure losses is only playing with the enevidable.
Gas can be dangerous to the unqualified – it can KILL.
Take the advise of all of those in this room and hire the services of a professional to undertake this work for you – that way you will sleep easy and know that the job has been done right.
