we have a valiant boiler which started misbehaving today. Whenever we turn the boiler on the heating is coming on even though we have turned off the heating at the switch, the boiler was fine up until today when it got flooded in a storm. We’ve tried turning the boiler off completely, trying the switch so that the radiators are on the on position but it doesn’t help. When the hot water is run the heating turns off, as soon as the hot water is turned off the radiators come back on and its the hottest day of the year!!! please please help :-)

Did the control switches get wet with the storm flooding? If so perhaps you have a shorted out switch which when switched either way still makes full contact hence your strange circumstances.
Have the electrical portion of your system checked as I beleive that is where your problem stems from given your description.

Hard to say from where I am located but I would expect no more than $50 for possible parts and whatever the going rate for labour and travel where you are is.
