I contacted a plumber to install a tankless gas hot water heater. He did some research and told me that was not a conceivable option. I would have to install a larger gas line into my home. He said the heater would use 3 times the amount of gas to heat the water, therefore my gas cost would increase and not decrease. I thought it sounded like a good idea when I saw the tankless hot water heater featured on your new house. Now I am not sure. What do other plumbers have to say about the installation and the cost of heating the water.
The larger gas size is a possibility depending on the existing gas installation. The heater will burn three times as much gas, but since it is a tankless heater it will be heating the water in one/third the time so the gas cost will be about the same.
You will save money as there are NO stand by losses with a tankless heater.
A hot water tank has stand by losses and a tankless heater only heats on demand.
There are several options available and I would strongly suggest you find a REAL Licensed Master plumber who keeps abreast of new equipment on the market
