Is there a programmable thermostat for gas hot water heaters?

Programmable thermostats are not used on water heaters because there is a concern today for diseases that may grow in stored water at temperatures between 90 to 140F. If savings are desired, a point-of-use or instantaneous water heater can supply water without storage standby losses.
