I have a standard sized house with the usual fixtures; hot water tank, dishwasher, washing machine, shower etc. we are two people. We have a standing water pressure of 20psi from our mountain stream source, I am installing a shallow well pump to increase the pressure to the normal 50psi. What is the best size of pre-charged tank to instal to have adequate water supply without the pump cycling to frequently?<

ddparker. install the biggest you can get or at least 5gal, then also install a pressure reduction valve to the outlet side of the pump to at least one lb below your bottom switch setting. That way you will get constant pressure, alternatively there are a multitude of constant flow pumps on the market that do not cycle.
          See a pump man.
