I have just installed a new sink with a mono lever mixer tap, every time i turn it on it makes a really loud noise (not a banging noise) If I turn it on fully it gets quieter, Could it be a faulty tap or is there something wrong with the plumbing

Sounds like someth9ng wrong with Faucet, loose washer are dirt inside.
