My tub won’t drain because the lever will not stay in the down position, I took the 2 screws out looked at everything and cannot determine what is keeping it from staying in the down position. There are two rods connected to a spring, if that makes a difference. I am clueless. Please help wife is not happy in shower with water pooling around her ankles.

You have to pull it out and ajust the rod. Sounds like it is to long shorten it a couple turns until it stays down.

I got it as short as it will go, a little better but not staying down enough to solve the problem. It creeps back up.
