I have 1 inch galvanized pipe bringing water into the house from our own well. The pipe has started leaking slowly outside so water is against the foundation and has started to leak in. I dug down to the leak. Can I put a 3/4 inch flexible pipe into the old one? How would you recommend fixing this problem? Thank you very much.
3/4 inch soft copper is 7/8 in outside diameter. If the galvanize has any internal corrosion, the copper might not fit. Also, it is generally not good to reduce the size of a supply pipe. Why not just remove the galvanized pipe from the foundation wall and replace it with one inch copper.
