I have a partial blockage in my toilet and the water drains very slowly. A called a Master Plumber and he suggested I makeup a chain out of small paperclips about 4ft in length. He said to flush the toilet with about 10 gals. of water and as the the water started draining…let the chain of paperclips go down with the waterflow, but hold on to one end. He said the other end of the chain would snag on the clogged material and I would be able to jerk it loose if enough force is applied. Has anyone had any success with this method for unclogging toilets?

You are making this up , right? That has got to be the funniest one I heard all week. In case you are for real, it was just as well this guy wasnt at your house. If there is an inexpensive problem in Plumbing, you have got it. Call a Licensed Plumbing Contractor in case its not the obvious, that way you can get on to other things quicker. Good luck.

Im having trouble walking, one of my legs is longer than the other. Certainly youve made all this up trying to pull one over on the plumbing community. At any rate, forget the licensed plumbing contractor and the master plumber. Call a local, experienced, reputable, drain cleaning company. This problem falls within their area of expertise and they generally charge less. Good luck, Lane.: I have a partial blockage in my toilet and the water drains very slowly. There was an advertisement in the phone book Master Plumber. When someone called him about a toilet blockage, he suggested a chain of paper clips. When it did not work, the customer went back and challenged him as to his qualifications to be a master plumber. She said, I dont think you are a plumber, much less a master. His reply was, I didnt say I was one, that is just what I call myself. : I have a partial blockage in my toilet and the water drains very slowly. Yes that is correct a drain cleaner is just that a drain cleaner although they come with less of a cost they also usually have no liability insurance and with no contractors license are not bonded. A reputable drain service company will still be a Licensed Plumbing Contractor. This means when you ask them for a Contractors State Plumbing License they will have one and when you ask them for State Comp. Insurance they will be able to have their Insurance Company send you a valid certificate. When you ask them for Liabilty Insurance proof they are able call their Insurance company to send you proof. I dont care how little the job appears if you can not get proof of coverage before ANYONE enters your house the buck you save may be the on you wished you paid. All homeowners today should verify and ask for License and proof of Insurance. If the company can not supply call another.
