How do I do this and will I need a plumber to put it backK If you can take it up, you can put it back. **cutoff water at toilet supply stop *flush water out and bail dry tank and bowl *loosen and remove supply line *loosen closet bolts at base of bowl * lift toilet out of room, remember it is somewhat heavy and breakable after tile work is finnished *get new wax seals, since you are raising floor level you may need to set regular seal and then a horne seal on top of it to give seal more thickness. Also get new closet bolts and supply line.

: i am going to tile my bathroom. I know i will need to remove the toliet. How do I do this and will I need a plumber to put it backKHi Gloria. Taking off the toilet is really simple. I would STRONGLY suggest you consider calling a licensed plumber to meet the tileman Prior to installing the new tile floor. This is your home and you do not want to do amateur work Putting double wax seals is just plain stupid as your depending on a piece of wax for water tight intergity . If this bathroom is over another room and this double wax set up leaks your in for more problems than it is worth. A wax seal cost less than $1.00 would you really want to take this risk? Suppose you called the Professional plumber to meet the tileman and iscuss how much motar he is going to use AND how much higher this new floor will be over the old existing? A real plumber would suggest possibly removing the old floor flange and installing a deep seal one to raise the floor flange height. The plumber could also check the condition of the existing lead bend or other conections of this toilet to help prevent future problems. Wouldnt you feel a little foolish putting all this money into a new beautiful floor just to have it destroyed cause the double wax gasket didnt work to your expectations. Is taking a chance on an item that cost less than one tile worth it? This is your home do it right. Have a licensed and insured Plumbing contractor reinstall the WC. Many of my commerical and residencial accounts have us not only remove the old toilet but reinstall it if it warrants it. Even removing a toilet can cause it to break and you can dislodge the floor flange if the installing plumber was not really skilled at lead soldering. Most of the time a local plumbing contractor will work with you. Enjoy your new bathroom.. Sylvan

I really dont where my brain was on that answer. Around here the carpet people and tile people use the double seals all the time regardless of what I adivse the homeowner. I guess for a moment I fell into that if you cant fightem joinum mentality which resulted in bad advise. glad he caught it
