I have some pipes in my basement that rattle like crazy after the upstairs toilet is flushed and has finished re-filling. Any suggestions to fix this? We moved in the house about eight months ago. It was built in 78. Thanks!

It was built in 78. Thanks!Mark, You may have high water pressure, loose pipes and a quick closing fill valve on the toilet.Replacement of the fill valve maybe needed. This is a simple fix for most of the noise problems you mention.If that does not do it, I would add a mini-rester water hammer arrestor at the wall shutoff. Terry
