Bathroom is on the third floor-When the shower water temp is between hot and cold the pipes start to pound and the water pressure starts to palpitate. This is 1 year old house and this just started happening. Why is this happening and is there a way to fix it?
Michael,Sometimes if you have very hot water (say off of a boiler system) your washers in the hot side of a faucet can start to vibrate and make a hammer noise.Im guessing its a single handle faucet. I would just replace the cartridge. This should fix your problem. If you do have very hot water you may want to lower the temp.Walter Kuntz http://www.testyourwater.com
There is a water hammer arrestor that you can obtain from your plumbing supply houses that will eliminate this noise.: Bathroom is on the third floor-When the shower water temp is between hot and cold the pipes start to pound and the water pressure starts to palpitate.
