        How necessary is the air vent to the dishwasher? Can it be plugged off?

          To Colleen, dishwasher vent. No vent should ever be plugged Or capped off unless it is being moved away from its original rough plumbing. What is happening to your plumbing to make you think you should cap it off?Mark Tiernan Tiernan Bros. Plbg. Gary In. USA

            : How necessary is the air vent to the dishwasher? Can it be plugged off?air caps r nessary to stop future back up of waste into dishwasher should the sink stop up ,and yes they can stop up

              Thanks Roger and Mark for your replies. When my dishwasher is draining it is coming out of the vent. I was just wondering out important this vent is, but I see now that it is. Thanks again.
