removal of cast iron elbow in main drainage in basement

we have to remove a cast iron elbow to remove a pipe that is stuck going to the main drainage pipe in our basement.If we hit the cast iron elbow will it break, also how do you remove the straight pipe connecting to the elbow, it’s up against a doorjam and staircase with no room for leverage.

We normally break it out with a sledge hammer and for the pipe we use a cast Iron cutter.

You should seriously consider hiring a licensed plumbing contractor

As you can imagine, when you hit the cast iron it shatters. Sharp bits of pipe covered in shit go flying every where. Wear protection when doing this
