As part of my upcoming home construction, I have recently run pipe from my water meter to a valve manifold located some 15 feet away. I ran flexible poly pipe from the meter to the manifold, and the manifold is made of 1PVC,slip joints, and PVC valves. By watching the water meter, I have noticed I am losing the equivalent of about 5 ounces of water every 24 hours to a leak somewhere. Obviously it is very slow and I cant locate it. Ive checked and re-tightened fittings, etc. My question is, should I pull my hair out trying to find and fix this leak or is a small leak like this to be expected in any plumbing system?

Five ounces in 24 hours isnt much now, but it could turn into more later. Drain and close off the ends of your piping system, then add air to it. Start at about 50 pounds, and go up as needed, spray your joints with a mixture of soap and water and your leak should bubble up in front of you……Lou

I am sure the leak is more than 5 oz. per day. That amount would not even register on a meter. Shut off as much of the system as you can an then cek the meter. If you still have the leak, then it is in the section that is pressurized. If not then turn on one valve at a time until the leak starts. That will be the system that you want to check for leaks.: As part of my upcoming home construction, I have recently run pipe from my : water meter to a valve manifold located some 15 feet away.
