Our sump pump backed up because our check valve got clogged. As you can imagine this flooded our basement.How can we prevent this from happening again. Also we have noticed that our sump pump seems to be working quite a bit of the time. How can we cut down on the water getting into the sump pump. Is that because our basement was built too close to the water table or because we do not have proper drainage of rainwater around our house? Thanks, Neal [email protected]

Neal; About the only thing you can do is make sure that the sump pump is pumping mostly clear water, and check your check valve at regular intervals to make sure this does not occur again……Lou
