Why is poly-b tubing taken off the shelf? What was the reason for changing the product? My house is 8 years old, and all of the plumbing is poly B tubing, do I have to worry in regards of any problems? Im looking forward to your reply! Thank you very much, Adam

REPLY: You might want to check out Poly Info Central at http://www.polybutylene.com. It has lots of information. And most recently, one of the manufactures has admitted their product is defective from the moment of installation. They did this in court!: Why is poly-b tubing taken off the shelf? : What was the reason for changing the product? : My house is 8 years old, and all of the plumbing is poly B tubing, do I have to worry in regards of any problems? : Im looking forward to your reply! : Thank you very much, : Adam

You will have 12 years from construction to file a claim for the interior piping, and 10 years for the exterior pipe from the meter. I advise my customers to file a claim as soon as they know they have PB tubing.: Why is poly-b tubing taken off the shelf? : What was the reason for changing the product? : My house is 8 years old, and all of the plumbing is poly B tubing, do I have to worry in regards of any problems? : Im looking forward to your reply! : Thank you very much, : Adam

Adam,I just bought a home which is 7 years old in Alberta. It has Poly-b and the inspector never even mentioned the potential problem to me before purchase. As a matter of fact he said it was good plumbing material. I recently heard of the concerns with poly-b.Check out the follwoing web site. It is a fact sheet from Alberta Labour. It strikes a little closer to home in that it mentions Canadain standards. Hope it helps.http://www.gov.ab.ca/lab/facts/safety/poly-b.htmlPaul
