Too much water in tank

I just replaced ALL parts in my tank to include the water supply line. Everything seemed to work great for a few hours. The tank filled up and stopped at the correct level, but when I checked it several hours later, the water in the tank was just about ready to overflow into the floor! Where is this excess water coming from.
