This type valve works under the principle the water pressure should remain even between hot and cold. When one or the other side loses pressure a balancing spool adjusts to equalize the pressure. This may diminish the volume of water coming from the shower head, but the temperature should not vay by more than 2-3 degrees. Talk to your plumber or plumbing inspector…they know! pipewerks
