I do not understand that people want to rely on natural basement drainage. Sooner or later roots will enter the drainage system and water will backup into the basement. The only safe basement drainage system is to disconnect and remove any natural basement drain outside of the basement wall and remove it for a distance from the basement wall. Then install a sump well and drain the sump over the basement wall and back down into the natural drainage tile a distance from the basement. This means all water seeping up under the basement floor and all water entering the basement must be pumped out by the sump pump. You may also need to seal the basement walls. Just hope the electricty remains on during storms or get a battery back up pack for your sump or a small generator.
