I recently had my septic tank serviced. The operator drained the main tank as well as the side with the liquid. On my system, my tank is lower than my field so I hav a separate tank with floats and a pump. There was some standing liquid in this tank since it had not yet reached the floats. He also removed this liquid. That was two weeks ago. This AM, the alarm for the pump went off, indicating that the level of liquid in the pump tank should have tripped the pump to go on, but didnt. Is it likely, or possible, that the operator could have accidently diconnected the float as he was cleaning the system? The entire system was installed 10 years ago when we purchased our new home. What is the expected life of one of these pumps. Thanks

iT LOOKS AS THOUGH THE FLOATS HAVE BEEN UPSET. ASK THE CONTRACTOR TO COME BACK AND CHECK IT OUT. SOME OF THE FLOAT SYSTEMS USE POOR QUALITY MATERIALS AND IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THEM TO JUST FALL OFF. YOU MAY SEE IT OR THEM FLOATING ON THE EFFLUENT.: I recently had my septic tank serviced.
