I had a State water heater installed in my home on April 22, 1997. I just had my home inspected prior to sale, and the inspector found that there is water pooling on the top of the water heater (around the pipes), and rusting on the pipes which indicate this is a prolonged problem.Called the firm that installed the water heater–they say Sorry Charlie, its now May and your 1-year warranty has expired. Grrr!!Seems to me, an honorable firm would say: even though its now May, we stand 100% behind our work and will make it right.Tell me–is this an unreasonable expectation? Am I just out of luck on this one? Thanks!

They should repair it, but if they do not, the aggravation of getting them to do it may be more than it is worth. Put a complaint with the BBB. It may be a token gesture, but if they are a member, you may get a response. Your state contractors registration agency may also be able to get a response from them.: I had a State water heater installed in my home on : April 22, 1997. The company that installed the heater is Just Water Heaters, Inc. based in Hayward, CA. They are a member of the BBB, but they just laughed when I mentioned the BBB to them. They said all they had to do was respond within 30 days and that would take care of them. This is indicative of their overall attitude. The state registration office is another option. Thanks for the suggestion.: They should repair it, but if they do not, the aggravation of getting them to do it may be more than it is worth. Put a complaint with the BBB. Sounds like the solution is only to unthread di-lectric fittings (if they used them ?) and apply more teflon paste to seal threads so it doesent leak. About 30 minutes. Bad press from a problem like this? Makes you wonder about the integrity of the company. The problem today is no one cares, from the guy who installed the heater, to the companys representative who should be taking care of the customer. This is october 1999 and New York state and the company is still gettin bad press. TOO BAD !
