my gas hot water heater (mor-flo is the brand) is only about 18 mos. old. it is leaking at the top where the pipes go in to the unit. it seems that it is leaking from the insulation at where the pipes are. what do you think? is it busted or is there a blow out plug or valve blown ? what would cause a new unit to go bad? please reply. thanks
David: If the heater is leaking from a hole in the tank, it is in warranty, and will be replaced by the manufacturer. If it is leaking from a fitting, you will need to contact the plumber that originally installed the heater…if he is a reputable guy, he will more than likely take care of it for you.. Lots of luck…Bud
Dry the top of the tank where the pipes are connected, and then use a blow dryer to remove any additional moisture. Then watch for the water to appear. If it is coming from the pipe thread then it is an installation problem. If it comes up out of the insulation, then it is a bad tank under warranty. You will still have to pay the labor and parts costs for the installation , but the tank will be furnished.: my gas hot water heater (mor-flo is the brand) is only : about 18 mos. old. it is leaking at the top where the pipes go in to the unit. it seems that it is leaking : from the insulation at where the pipes are. what do you : think? is it busted or is there a blow out plug or valve blown ? what would cause a new unit to go bad? : please reply. thanks
