This sounds like either an appliance problem or the circuit breaker tripped (or fuse blew).
If you turn the clothes washer knob, does the clothes washer operated (make noises, spin, agiatate, etc.)? If not, unplug the clothes washer and plug a small lamp or night light into the outlet. Does the lamp or night light work? If not, then the circuit breaker tripped (or fuse blew).
If the light worked, then you may have a clothes washer timer switch which just went bad, the belt under the clothes washer broke, etc. (these would be appliance repairs).
