Ive been living in Adelaide for the past two years. Im not a Plumber but a supermarket and industrial refridgeration mechanic, and have daily dealings with numerous Plumbing companies in Adelaide and South Australia. I was the propietor of Multi-Air Refridgeration in Joburg for twenty years. I can tell alot about plumbing in South Australia, and a fair amount of the rest of Australia (for I have worked nation wide). I can tell you that 90% of all Australian companies are with-holding all major projects until after June 2000, because of the pending G.S.T. implementation. Wages in comparison with the cost of living in Australia is very bad. The tax system after $50 000 a year is 49%. Australian bosses are very hard to work with because of a very one sided system, and bad wages. To start a business where you employ staff, you will find it hell because of the cost and attitudes. Young kids and teenagers are exposed to a massive drug and alchol. On the bright side the country is relatively crime free and peaceful to live in. I will still see myself back in South Africa in the not too distant future, for I will feel much happer that side.WAGES: The average plumber earns between 12 & 14 dollars an hour. and a Refrigeration mechanic earns between 17 & 22 dollars an hour.
