: Does anybody know how to dig a leach/drain field. The gray water tank flows very slow. I pulled the cover on the tank and the level was where it should be, after doing two loads in the machine, the level rises to the top. I dug out in the drain field, and the water level was also high. The field is about 10ft by 9ft. I want to put another in, but not sure what I need to do. Can someone help me out?Rich, there are many people that know the information that you seek. However, if you live in the USA, it is most likely required that you obtain a permit from your local health department, or other regulatory agency, to expand your sewage treatment system. The experts at the health department are most familiar with the types of technology that are most appropriate, and approved for your area, and what the best design approach would be.Generally, when faced with the expansion of an existing system, I recommend the installation of an effluent filter in the outlet tee of the septic tank, and placing a diversion valve in the sewer pipe between the septic tank, and the leach field. Connect the new leach field to this diversion valve so that you can alternate the effluent flow from one field to the other on an annual basis. My choice of leach field material is a product called SB*2 gravelless leach field tubing, manufactured by Advanced Drainge Systems.
