If it is a timer, then the black/white from the house go to the LINE terminals and the red/black from the heater go to the LOAD terminals, and the bare wires get connected together and also connect to the GROUND on the timer.: i recently bought a timer for the water heater, from the house i have a white, black and bare wire; the water heater is red, black and bare; do i connect black to black, white to red and bare to bare? : many thanks, : Kerry
