Melissa:–Use a wooden stick or a broom handle to try to free the cutter head inside the throat of the disposer. Try moving it in either direction to free the broken glass. Once it moves even a little turn on the unit and run the water to flush away the debris. If the motor stops humming, push the reset button located on the bottom of the motor and try again. Lots of luck..BudI broke a glass lid in the sink and got as much out as I could with a glove, but the garbage disposal wont run now, it makes a buzzing sound when I turn it on but the blades wont turn.
