: You have to know the thickness of the finished wall. The centerline of the inlet pipes will be 2 1/4 behind that. But the better way is to leave the plastic plaster ground on and set the face of that at the finish wall location.: : I am in the process of roughing in plumbing supply for a shower. The instructions for the shower valve states the front face of the plaster ground is a reference point for a nominal 5/8 thick finished wall with the supply piping centerline nominal 1 11/16 from the face of the stud. Maximum wall thickness can only be obtained with minimum distances from face stud to centerline of piping. Can someone translate this for me? All I want to know is how far back into the finished wall should I install the valve to ensure the escutcheon, handle stop, and handle fit when I install them. Thanks.Thanks hj.
