: Kohler toilets installed in my new condominium in 1997 have experienced defective parts in at least 5 toilets ( 3 in my next door neighbors house, too, and different installers doing the work). Has anyone else experienced this problem or even just the rubber gaskets deteriorating and then causing leaking? The most severe case was the fill valve actually breaking at the point of connection to the water supply. Terrible resulting water damage to walls, ceilings, hardwood floors etc. I would welcome any input. MEmany of our service calls for leaks at the toilet are the result of overtightening of the ballcock supply nut or the bowl nut above. these parts are plastic and if overtightened will eventually crack or break off. we make our own supplies with rubber washers and brass friction ring and flare the tubing for extra measure.
