The minimum air gap required for residential RO systems is 1″ above the sink. These are part of the RO systems faucet and have three connections. 1/4″ drain from the RO, 3/8″ or 1/4″ product line from the RO, and the 3/8″ return from the air gap to the drain. The best way to ensure that the water runs freely to the drain is to take the most direct route too it. Try not to leave any sags in the 3/8″ line from the RO faucet.
