: Are there ratings of GAS hot water heaters? : Is there much difference between a 6 year & : 10 year warranty? What is the best? The difference between a 6 year heater and a 10 year heater is 4 YEARS But you already knew that HUH? Why not find out how much the cost factor is and then divide to find out the actual cost per year? Now for something ILL bet you didnt know. I have installed 5 years over 15 years ago STILL going strong and I installed one heater (AO Smith) that was supposed to be a 10 year heater BUT alas it lasted almost 20 minutes BEFORE I found the leak on the top 4 of it. I also had to replace the DIP Tube of my own AO Smith water heater. The company did give me $100 CREDIT which unfortuntly didnt even cover my time. I have had no problems with State Water heaters. All water heaters are supposed to be made according to ASME standards and TESTED.Before you think about installing your own heater please read this article I wrote for the Master plumbers web pages.
