: I have some pipes in my basement that rattle like crazy after the upstairs toilet is flushed and has finished re-filling. Any suggestions to fix this? We moved in the house about eight months ago. It was built in 78. Thanks!Mark, You may have high water pressure, loose pipes and a quick closing fill valve on the toilet.Replacement of the fill valve maybe needed. This is a simple fix for most of the noise problems you mention.If that does not do it, I would add a mini-rester water hammer arrestor at the wall shutoff. Terry
