SHIRLEY: THE OVERFLO AT THE TOP OF YOUR SINK IS CALLED AN AIRGAP & THE PROBLEM YOURE DESCRIBING IS VERY EASY TO FIX.I ASSUME YOU HAVE A GARBAGE DISPOSAL…..LOOK UNDER YOUR SINK AND YOULL SEE A HOSE COMING FROM THE DISHWASHER WHICH CARRIES DISCHARGED WATER FROM THE D/W TO THE AIRGAP. THERE SHOULD BE A 2ND HOSE WHICH TAKES THE WATER FROM THE AIRGAP AND DUMPS IT INTO THE DISPOSAL. SO YOU HAVE A CONTINUIOUS LOOP FROM THE D/W TO THE AIRGAP TO THE G/D.WHEN WATER FROM THE D/W SPITS OUT THE AIRGAP IT SIMPLY MEANS THE HOSE FROM THE AIRGAP TO THE G/D IS RESTRICTED OR STOPPED UP. PROBLEM EASILY SOLVED BY REMOVING AND/OR CLEANING OUT THAT SHORT SECTION OF HOSE.IF EXPLANATION IS NOT CLEAR OR YOU NEED MORE HELP FEEL FREE TO CALL ME DIRECT AT 760-436-8600 (SAN DIEGO) IM HERE FROM 8:00-5:00 & WOULD BE GLAD TO TALK YOU THRU PROBLEM. LANE.: when the pump on my dishwasher is on, the water comes out the overflow tube on the top of the sink where the sprayer would be. What would cause this and what can be done to fix the problem?
