    If it is rusting, the it is probably an enamel steel sink. You will have to replace it eventually, and probably soon. Look nder the sink at the overflow tube that goes into the drain. If that is also rusted, then the sink is about shot.: My bathroom sink is 9 years old. I have a problem with rust around the chrome rim around the drain. The rust is around the rim and then goes up the enamel sink a bit too. Ive removed it once or twice a week with naval jelly which seems to be the only thing that gets rid of it temporarily. I asked at my hardware store about replacing the rim and stopper. They said that sinks often leak after this. Im thinking it might be worth it…Id rather it leak than have the rust. I wonder if the rust is actually into the enamel of the sink itself. Id hate to replace the whole sink as Id have to chip away the tile edging around the sink and replace that too. Suggestions??
