Turn off the water to the heater. Turn off the electricity to the heater, and make sure you turn off the correct breaker. Open a faucet to relieve the pressure. Unfasten the two wires to the element. Have the new element handy, and remove the old element. Press a rag into the opening while you work the old element out unless it was a cheap single loop model. Remove the rag and quickly slide the new element in andtighten it. Reconnect the wires, turn on the water, and then turn on the electricity. : I have a Rheem Ruud electric water heater and have to replace the bottom element. Is there any info you can give me, a schematic drawing or something explaining the procedure for changing the bottom element?
