: After a heavy storm, water came up through the drain in the basement. I also have a very slow drain outside of my garage which causes water to flow into garage. Perhaps these are related. The big problem is the basement. What do I do?If your basement drain and drain outside your garage are connected and do not empty into a sanitary sewer, the problem may be that the drain line could be blocked some how. If the basement drain is connected to a sanitary sewere it is possible that the sewer backed up causing the water in that area. As for the garage drain, if it were connected to the sanitary sewer as is the basement drain, it shouldnt back up. I really cant give a definate solution without knowing where both the drains drain to.
