Alan:— This is a very common problem, and can lead to hard feelings between tenants/owners in this situation…. We use a borescope to determine the exact cause of the problem. This device is about the diameter of a pencil (approx. 1/4) and is able to view the interior of a wall or ceiling to determine the source of the leak. This device is inserted through a small hole made at or near the suspected leak site, and will definitley determine the cause of the leak. Some borescopes have a vdeo camera attatchment that will display or record the findings for all interested parties. If there is aplumber in your area with a borescope, this may be your easiest means to prove your case. The small hole required for this examination technique is easily fixed with a dab of plaster. Lots of luck….Bud..: Dear Sirs/Madam,: I have a water leakage problem distrubing me. I find leakage of water at the roof of my bathroom. The location is underneath the water bath of the upper floor.: I suspect that the problem is due to the leakage of water pipes at her bath. Then, I have approached the owner of the upper floor to persuade her to investigate the leakage problem. However, she refused me. Then, I : raised the problem to the Water Supplies Department. They take some samples of water for laboratory testing. It is found that the water is not the foul type! But I dont have sufficient reasons to justify that the water is : coming from the water of upper floor. I have several problems : -: (i) How can I justify the source of leakage ? : (ii) What further tests can be undertaken to identify the source of the leakage ? : (iii) Any persons have experience of taking any legal actions in similar cases ?: I am looking for your kind advice.
