I had this happen several times at my old house (with the exception of the flies), eventually, the toilet started backing up into the tub. I had called a plumber and the problem was I had roots from my trees in my pipes, so he cleaned the pipes and it went away for at least 6 months. I tried several different plumbers over the years, but the one company that did the best was Roto Rooter…we lived there for a year more and did not have any more problems.
