:in reference to longevity of sdr 35 pvc pipe if installed properly it is sufficient for gravity flow sewers. there,s a big difference in gravity flow sewers VS a city water main. sdr 35 will long outlast our lives as well as the next generation life. pvc is chemicaly resistent to most chemicals to the ones its not other procedures ar taken to dilute or contain the chemical.ductile iron is made up from ductile with concrete lining if that lining is damaged in any way thaat shortens the lifespan dramaticaly.I,m not sure what the expected lifespan of these materials are (maybe someone can inform us of this)but for gravity flow sewers sdr35 is more than enough. iron asx Dear Ronnie my opinionRespectfuly on using ducttile iron on sewer marodneyins is a little bit to much and very expensive VS SDR 35 whitch in my opinion is sufficient enough on gravity flow sewer mains as long as thier bedded properly and below 36 inches in depth I don,t know your situation exactly but ductile iron and c-900 are very expensive materials: Hi Ronnie. See this is EXACTLY what I was trying to get across to you. Some plumbers are so concerned about cost rather then longivity. If this material lasts for 100 YEARS as opposed to 30 years for the other products dont you think this cheaper in the long run?If all plumbing contractors are given the exact same specifications WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? It isnt like some are told to figure gold pipe and the other guy plastic. Everyone is in the same ball park. What a lot of contractors fail to take into concideration is LONGIVITY. WE contractors think short time as compared to big cities. The above person never took into account not only the so called expensive piping materials BUT what about the nunsiance of time down to open the streets to replace this failed material. People doing without water due to piping failures. How about back filling and paving expenses? This all has to be taken into account before you just base your opinion on price. Lets talk QUALITY first. Ronnie We both know we normally get what we pay for IN THE LONG HAUL of life. .By the way NYC just replaced the 6 CI water main 105 years old with NEW 8 Ductile CI. LONGIVITY for forture generations. Respectifuly Sylvan
