From your description, it appears that the pipes are inside the residence. If that is the case, then they cannot freeze unless the house also freezes. And if that were to happen, then the other pipes will also freeze. The bigger question is whether the two pipes are actually in the concrete. If they are, and they were not encased in a plastic wrap of some kind, then they will be subject to alkali corrosion and could start leaking at sometime in the future.: I am building a home on a slab in McKinney Texas and the copper water lines for the plumbing has been placed two drifferent ways. : Most of the plumbing is approximatley 8-10 inches in the ground : covered with dirt, plastic and post tension rods, then covered in : cement. The other copper water lines are for two outside water facets : that were laid on top of the plastic and covered directly with cement. One of the water lines in an unheated area and the other : is within 2 feet of an inground electrical outlet. Both of the : facet water lines are unprotected, unwrapped, uninsulated or anything. : I am concerned these pipes could freeze as they are not below the : freeze line.: Thank you: [email protected]
