thanks for taking the time to reply. After replacing the part myself (and it doing exactly the same thing), I had a plumber out yesterday who said exactly the same as you, I think his words were ‘what ****ing idiot put that there’. Anyway, he’s taken it (and any push fittings) out completely and done a proper job!
