We have blue-green deposits in our commodes and shower. About six months after we moved into our new house, we noticed these deposits. We have been in our new home about 2 years. We have been told that the deposits are due to leaching of copper from our pipes. What could be causing this leaching? We do have a water conditioner (Kinetico). We had this system in another location with a different water company (for about a year) and did not have this problem. Our water hardness (untreated) is 35 grains. Both hard and soft water can be acidic. Ask your Kinetico dealer to test your waters pH. Visit Kineticos Web site if you have additional questions.

As usual, I seem always to be a year or so behind the question that you ask RE: leaching of copper from your water distribution system. Rather than try to give you the specific reasons for this problem, I envite you to check out web site http://www.copperknight.com. The water softener that you speak of is not the culprit, it adds a small ammount of Sodium to the water in the course of the ion exchange process that provdes you with softened water. The problem that you are experiencing is a very common one, and seems to becoming more and more wide spread. If after viewing the information available at the web site above, you require additional info on this subject, please E-mail me……..bud
