What is my next step, please? thanksSounds like you may have galvanized piping. Check around your hot water tank with a magnet and see if it sticks.. If the magnet does stick you have ferrious metal and mau need a professional MASTER PLUMBER to replace some of the piping

Your tank may have a backflow preventer or check valve that has malfunctioned. We had a similiar problem with an electric water heater (John Woods)I have just a trickle of hot water from several of my faucets. I have drained and flushed the water heater, but it didnt help.
