Sounds like you need a new wax seal. Turn off the water to the water closet, flush the water closet to remove as much water as possible, then bail the bowl out with a small disposable cup. Next undo the bolts holding the bowl to the floor, and the nut holding the water supply to the tank. Place a piece of cardboard on the floor, and set the water closet on the cardboard. After removing the old wax seal, from water closet and flange, check to make sure the flange is securely mounted to the floor, loose flanges cause most of these type of leaks, if it isnt firmly fastened to the floor take whatever measures necessary to correct it. Place the new wax seal on the flange, you may also want to use new bolts, less than five bucks and a little easier on the beginner. Place bolts in slots in flange, then gently set the water closet on the flange, you should feel a slight compression as the seal is pressed into place, if not add more wax. At this point I usually reconnect the waterline, as you can start the water closet filling whle you are tightening the T-bolts. Hope this helps…..Lou
